2023 Haller Award Presented to Paul G. Scott

Paul G. Scott, P.E., S.E. Former Partner of Caruso Turley Scott, Inc., was presented with the 2023 Haller Award during The Masonry Society’s Annual Meeting on November 9, 2023 in Albuquerque, New Mexico by David Sommer, Chair of the Design Practices Committee. Sommer noted that Scott has been a strong masonry advocate for many years. Scott has designed numerous masonry residential, commercial, and industrial projects, some using the Integra Block post-tensioned CMU system in the western US. One of his signature projects is the tallest post-tensioned masonry building in the United States. Completed in 2013, Sentinel Plaza is an Independent Senior Housing Development, in Tucson, Arizona. The building is six stories high with 139,000 square feet and 143 units.

Within TMS, Scott has served in numerous roles, most recently as Chair of the Technical Activities Committee (TAC), staarting a second term as Chair, after 2 terms as a member of TAC. Scott has served on many other TMS committees as well, including TMS 402/602, BIMM, the Executive Committee, and the Board of Directors lending his practical knowledge and expertise to the Committee’s discussions. Scott received a 2017 Service Award, and also received the 2023 President’s Award.

 

 


The Haller Award is given to an individual engineer or an engineering firm that has enhanced the knowledge of masonry in practice. This award recognizes the beauty, elegance, and economy of structural masonry projects.
