Mr. Andrew E. Geister, Chairman of The Masonry Society’s (TMS) Design Practices Committee presented the 2015 TMS Paul Haller Structural Design Award to Mr. Benchmark H. Harris, Director of Engineering at Huckabee, Inc., at the TMS’s Annual Meeting in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 17, 2015. Geister noted that Harris was selected for his outstanding contributions to Structural Masonry Design and Education that included his leadership on development of TMS Direct Design Handbook. Harris has designed over $2 Billion of construction projects utilizing reinforced concrete masonry as a primary structural element. Geister noted that Harris has been so successful in completing projects through his attention to detail where he has utilized the advantages of masonry, and has had open communication with contractors and clients. Upon receiving the Award, Harris provided an inspiring thanks noting his love of family, and that he considered TMS a family that has helped and nurtured him throughout his career.
