Shreedhar K C, Clemson University, was presented with the Grimm Student Scholarship during The Masonry Society’s Annual Meeting on October 17, 2024 in Portland, Maine.
This scholarship is awarded annually to a Master’s level graduate student conducting research in masonry. This research can be in masonry materials, structures, construction, or architecture and must be performed under the direction of a member of The Masonry Society.
Shreedhar will be specializing in structural engineering and seismic design and hopes to help make construction safer and more resistant to earthquakes. His Master’s thesis research involves involves experimental studies on modulus of rupture and cracked moment of inertia for masonry beams. The main objective of this research is to improve TMS 402/602 code provisions for Modulus of Rupture values specific to beam design.
