The Masonry Educators’ Workshop (MEW) is a forum created for educators to learn about the design, specification, construction, and evaluation of masonry. The workshop equips educators with effective and innovative methods for teaching masonry to their students.
The goal of the MEW is to provide educators with the knowledge and resources needed to prepare their students, the designers and construction managers of the future, for careers utilizing masonry on their projects.
The workshop is targeted towards educators at North American colleges and universities who teach or plan to teach masonry in architecture, engineering, and construction management. Those teaching actual masonry construction or those located outside of North America may find value in some topics. However, the workshop primarily focuses on teaching masonry design, detailing, construction, and maintenance/repair to undergraduate and graduate students preparing for careers that use primarily U.S. based codes and standards (architects, architectural engineers, civil/structural engineers and construction managers).
New educators will find the workshop to be valuable as they prepare to teach masonry. Experienced educators will benefit from learning about the latest updates to codes, standards, materials, and practices.
