Bio/Firm Description: Ben is an expert in the design and conservation of unconventional masonry construction with extensive experience in earthen masonry codes and standards and over twenty years of in architectural practice. He has acted as author of portions of the International Building Code sections on adobe masonry, initiated chair's The Masonry Society's committee charged with creating international design standards for earthen masonry has been a contributing author to the International Residential Code Appendix on Cob/Monolithic Adobe, and certified by examination as an Adobe Professional by The Earthbuilders’ Guild. Loescher is the founder of adobeisnotsoftware, an education and advocacy group dedicated to informing and reducing barriers to the appropriate use of adobe and earthen masonry.
