Arnold H. Hendry (1999) is a noted masonry researcher and author. During his distinguished career, he has held appointments in the universities of Aberdeen, London, Khartoum, Liverpool and Edinburgh. He has been a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh since 1961 and a Professor Emeritus at the University of Edinburgh since 1988. He is the author of eight major academic works along with over 150 papers on structural engineering, many of which related to masonry bearing wall structures. Because of his exceptional research work related to masonry, he was given the John B. Scalzi Research Award in 1994. Professor Hendry passed in December 2013, leaving a great legacy.
