Colby Co. Engineering is pleased to sponsor a cocktail reception for attendees and guests of The Masonry Society during the annual meeting in Portland, Maine. We hope you can join us for beverages and hors d’oeuvres on Wednesday, October 16th from 5:15-6:45 PM at the historic U.S. Custom House.

Morning Walk – Join us for a morning walk to an overlook of the city and Casco Bay. The walk will conclude before committee meetings begin Wednesday morning.

Member/Guest Reception – Relax after Wednesday’s committee meetings at this buffet dinner. Use this opportunity to network and catch up with fellow attendees.

General Sessions – Presentation topics include existing masonry, LEED v4, concrete masonry units, and AI-assisted modelling, and more. Three sessions will provide a total of 3.5 hours of continuing education credit.

Awards Luncheon – TMS will recognize Dr. Richard Bennett with Honorary Membership and Dr. Ece Erdogmus with Fellow Membership. A variety of other awards will also be presented.

Portland by the Foot Walking Tour – A custom guided walking tour of the Old Port area. There will be a special focus on the masonry structures that are prevalent in Portland for our TMS attendees.

  • Roti de Boeuf – Sliced all-natural roast beef, Boursin cheese, red onion, horseradish mayonnaise, leaf lettuce, and vine ripened tomato on French baguette
  • Plymouth Rock – Sliced all-natural turkey, creamy brie, cranberry mayonnaise, and sliced apple on a Telera roll
  • Greek Salad – Vine ripened tomato, cucumbers, red onion, Kalamata olives, feta cheese, and garlic croutons on a bed off tender baby spinach.

All lunches include seasonal whole fruit, individual bag of artisan chips, Regency Bakeshop cookies, soft drink, and bottled water.


  • Chicken Piccata – Chicken, scallions, mushrooms, capers, and lemon cream
  • Braised Beef Tips – Cremini mushrooms, pearl onions, bacon, and garlic butter
  • Mushroom Risotto – Roasted cherry tomatoes, garlic, wilted baby kale, and toasted pine nuts

Each entrée includes mixed vegetable, potato or rice, freshly baked rolls and piped sweet butter.

Beverages: Soft drinks, Seacoast coffee, and assorted Tazo tea.

Desserts (set at alternate place settings): Chocolate caramel tart (salted caramel, chocolate ganache) and Bête noire (flourless chocolate torte, crème anglaise)
