Michael P. Schuller, President of Atkinson-Noland & Associates, Inc., was presented with the John B. Scalzi Research Award from The Masonry Society at TMS’s Annual Meeting in October. Dr. Arturo Schultz presented the award on behalf of the Research Committee.
Schuller has made numerous and widely regarded contributions towards the development and implementation of non-destructive evaluation methods for masonry structures, which have garnered national and international praise. He holds BS and MS degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado, where he conducted shear wall research. He also has conducted research on lap splices, masonry infill frames, repair of masonry after earthquakes, grout injection, and much more.
Schuller is a Fellow of The Masonry Society, serves on the Board of Directors, and Co-Chaired the 11th North American Masonry Conference held in Denver in June 2015. He is also a Fellow of the Association for Preservation Technology.
