Errata to TMS 404/504/604-23 (as of February 20, 2024)

Developed by The Masonry Society’s Cast Stone Committee, this volume contains three coordinated standards and their commentaries governing the design, fabrication, and installation of architectural cast stone systems and elements.

TMS 404 — Standard for Design of Architectural Cast Stone addresses the design of cast stone systems and elements included in structures or assemblies. Topics covered include design loads, material properties, strength and serviceability, analysis and design methods, section properties, reinforcement detailing, and quality assurance.

TMS 504 — Standard for Fabrication of Architectural Cast Stone addresses the fabrication of cast stone systems and elements. Topics covered include relevant ASTM standards, material properties, shop drawings, reinforcing steel, detailing, anchors, ties, corrosion protection, and delivery requirements.

TMS 604 — Standard Specification for Installation of Architectural Cast Stone addresses installation of cast stone systems and elements. Topics covered include installation, construction procedures, submittals, mortars, masonry, quality assurance, inspection, and tolerances.

Key updates in this edition include:

• Coordination with current reference standards, including updated ASTM references and alignment with ASCE/SEI 7-22
• New deflection limits of l/600 for cast stone subjected to out-of-plane loads
• Drying shrinkage limit replaced by a requirement that shrinkage be tested and reported
• Minimum unit thickness requirement of 2.5 in. (64 mm) for all cast stone
• Permitting glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) bars meeting ASTM D7957/C7957M
• Required minimum qualifications for testing laboratories and inspection agencies
• General clarification and expansion of provisions and commentary throughout
