TMS 402/602-16 Code and Specification Update Webinar

Description: The TMS 402/602-16 (formerly designated as TMS 402/ACI 530/ASCE 5 and TMS 602/ASCE 530.1/ASCE 6) has been released and adopted by the 2018 editions of the International Building Code and International Residential Code for the design and construction of structural masonry, masonry veneer, and glass unit masonry. Seminar Instructor: Richard Bennett, PhD, PE is a Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Bennett has been very active in The Masonry Society (TMS), the former Masonry Standards Joint Committee, and the more recent TMS 402/602 Committee: Chairing the 2016 TMS 402/602 Committee, serving as Vice Chair of the 2022 TMS 402/602 Committee (and previously as Vice-Chair of the 2013 Committee), and formerly Chairing the Flexural, Axial Loads, and Shear subcommittee. He is an author of the popular Masonry Designer’s Guide, has served as Associate Editor of The Masonry Society Journal, and currently serves on TMS’s Board of Directors. Dr. Bennett is a Fellow of The Masonry Society, and he won the 2016 TMS President’s Award for his excellent leadership of TMS 402/602 during the 2016 Cycle. He is a member of ASTM C12 on Mortars and Grouts for Unit Masonry, and ASTM C15 on Manufactured Masonry Units.
Registration: The registration fee is $75 ($50 for TMS Members) to attend the webinar. This fee entitles the registrant to participate in the webinar and to receive a certificate of attendance with completion of a short quiz (to ensure participation on the webinar).
You may invite others to participate on the webinar using your connection, although they must be registered in order to receive a certificate of attendance and emails from TMS regarding the webinar. An additional $10 discount will be applied to each registration when at least 3 tickets are purchased ($20 when 6 or more are purchased). You will be prompted to enter the name and email address for each ticket (seat) at the time of registration. This can be done at a later date, but that information is required by the conclusion of the webinar so that those individuals may complete the quiz and receive a certificate of attendance.
Handouts: The Masonry Society will provide a pdf of the PowerPoint Presentation and Examples presented to registered attendees at least 48 hours prior to the webinar. If you don’t yet have a copy of TMS 402/602-16, you can purchase a copy here.
Certificates of Attendance will be provided in a pdf format to registered attendees after successful completion of a short quiz following the webinar. The quiz is quite simple and is required to ensure attendance at the webinar and understanding of the key points presented.
Webinar Details and Logistics: Several days prior to the webinar, TMS will forward all registrants instructions for the webinar along with login information for the webinar and for the conference call. At that time, a pdf of the PowerPoint Presentation will also be sent to registered attendees.
Depending on the number of participants, the conference call may be muted during the presentation to allow the Speaker to be able to present the material without interruption. If this is required, questions from participants can be forwarded to TMS staff and the presenters. Alternately, the phones will be “unmuted” so that questions may be asked.
Cancellation requests must be submitted via e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling the TMS office at 303-939-9700. Cancellation requests will be accepted without penalty up to 10 business days prior to the event. Cancellation requests received between 3 and 10 business days prior to the event will be refunded in full less a $25 administrative fee. No refunds will be given for cancellations received 3 days prior to the event or for “no shows”.
TMS retains the right to cancel any and all events up to, but not later, than two weeks prior to the event. Events may be cancelled for any reason, including, but not limited to, inadequate registration or illness of speakers. In the event an event is cancelled, registration fees will be returned to all those registered for that event.
